Where is Brambleton? Well you take a left at "Far Away" and go straight until you see the new community of houses. :-)

After stuffing our faces at the Pit Stop for lunch, we went on a search for a playground to let the two monkeys run around and burn up some of that pent up energy. We ended up in the Brambleton shopping mall area which was right next to a community of new town homes and single family houses.

After 45 minutes of running around in the hot hot weather, the boys' cheeks were read and they started to slow down a bit. We all decided to find a place grab some ice cream and water to cool down our warm heads. Walking around the Brambleton mall area, we were stopped by a sign that said, "Got Cupcakes? We do!" posted right in front of the Edibles Incredible store front. This was enough to get our attention as we looked through the window and saw a wide assortment of cakes and other goodies.

Walking inside we look around and decided to order two cupcakes as our treat. The lady working the store was very kind and friendly and offered us cups of water to help cool down our red faces. The "cupcake" sign had done its job of securing "Cupcake" Antonio's attention and bringing him and his family inside. Why am I suddenly talking in the 3rd person? Anyway...

We ordered two cupcakes: a peanut butter cup cupcake which had peanut butter flavored frosting on a peanut butter and chocolate flavored cake and a cupcake called the "Fudgilicious" which was chocolate cake covered in a thick layer of fudge. As the wife dove into the peanut butter cup cupcake, she was surprised to see that the inside of the cupcake was filled with gooey peanut butter. The Fudgilicious had a firm fudge shell protecting the actual cake portion which was a bit too sweet for my liking.

The peanut butter cup cupcake was a better, but the gooey peanut butter inside seemed to overpower the flavor of the rest of the cupcake. Not being a cupcake expert (despite my given Yelp nickname), I thought the cupcakes were okay as they successfully satisfied our craving for sweets. It was a nice break and the boys enjoyed chatting with some of the other younger patron that were in the store.

I didn't finish my Fudgilicious cupcake because the fudge made the cupcake too sweet. My only wish about the Edibles Incredible was that they had an espresso machine so I could get an espresso or a latte to help me wash down all the sweetness from my cupcake. I ended up asking for a box and took the rest of my unfinished cupcake home.

I really wasn't wowed or turned-off by the cupcakes at Edibles Incredibles. For this reason I decided to give them a solid 3 stars for the entire experience. They do have a great advantage of being the only dessert/cupcake/cake place in the entire Brambleton mall area.

If in the area I may consider coming back to try another cupcake or dessert, but would not make the loooong drive all the way to Brambleton just to get one of their treats. It would just be hard to come here for a treat considering that I saw a Cold Stone just around the corner as we drove away...

So how can Edibles Incredible make itself THE dessert place of the Brambleton area?

(1) Steal the sweet tooth customers! Edible Incredible needs let people know that they have ice cream and do some for of promotion to grab all of those Cold Stone fans so they bring their sweet tooth cravings and hard earned cash to their store. Maybe mix some cake/cupcakes/cobbler with ice cream ala my favorite dessert store the Dairy Godmother?

(2) Cup 'o Joe please. Serving some real coffee (espresso, cappuccino, latte, etc) may bring traffic to their store from all the other nearby restaurants as people search for a coffee spot and dessert fix after their lunch/dinner outings. This is especially important to do NOW since there isn't a Starbuck's nearby and the closest coffee competition is a Caribou Coffee a few blocks down.

(3) Use your location! Take advantage of your location to other restaurants and one of the major garages to bring people into your store. This would be done by promotions, events or making a dessert or treats that will make you well know. Find your "thing" where people will stop by not just to order a custom cake, but to get their sweet on!
